What Or Who Inspires You?
“Many of us pursue pleasure with such breathless haste that we hurry past it.” -(Soren Kierkegaard)
"...or we do not pursue pleasure at all?"- (Tresa).
This is not the case with 83 year old Hattie who is living her best life by honoring what makes her happy with no shame, blame, guilt, regrets, fear. and most of all, no concern for how society views her.
Hattie loves dating younger men and loves sex. In her own words (paraphrased), after her divorce at 55, she missed sex so she allowed herself the pleasure of men. She thought she would be in a long-term partnership or would get remarried, but it never happened.
Although she went through a range of emotions that also included depression, she fiercely honored herself and owned her desires. And her main desire just happened to be a healthy sexual appetite.
This, I imagine, had to take brazen courage; particularly when, almost 30 years ago, she choose to live a life that would it make it all too easy for society to define her in unloving ways. It would've been an attempt to box her in.
Hattie connected with her sexual self and her senses. She learned the power of owning her PUSSY as Medicine.
She inspires me because she could have stayed in her fear, her feelings and her emotions. She could've chose not to show up for herself or not to be present for herself at all.…but she made a different choice.
Sisters, I for one choose to be like Hattie who reminds me to define my deepest desires, give myself permission to have them and then ride the wave of pleasure.
